Q: Where can I find the Snow Country Tourism Activity Center?
A: The Activity Center is super convenient and easy to find, just follow these steps!
Step 1: Exit the ticket gate of the Echigo Yuzawa bullet train station

Q: When are they open?
A: The Snow Country Tourism Activity Center is open every day except Wednesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Q: Can inquiries be made in English?
A: Yes!
The Snow Country Tourism Activity Center has been designated a Category 2 tourism center by the Japanese National Tourism Agency (JNTO), which means that it includes not just the immediate area around the town of Yuzawa, but also the entire Snow Country Tourism Zone, including towns within surrounding Gunma and Nagano Prefectures. Being category 2 also requires full time English speaking staff, so you can be assured of peace of mind. Lastly, category 2 offices have regular office hours, including on weekends, so you can receive the same great service even during the peak winter season!
Q: What can I do there?
A: There is far more at the Activity Center than just maps and pamphlets!
Whether you need accommodation for the duration of your trip, restaurant reservations, information about local attractions, or a personally guided excursion, we have everything you need!
For best results, let us know where you will be based for the duration of your trip, and how long you will be staying, your interests, and if you have certain dietary restrictions or any other specific needs.
Q: I’ve heard it is difficult to get around in the Japanese countryside. Will you help me plan my schedule?
A: Certainly!
Whether you are interested in a full tour or just here for the day, we can help to make it easy to get from point A to point B. The tour center offers all-inclusive model tours with private transportation, or can handle your transportation reservations whether it be planning your train ride or bus tour, or calling you a private taxi to explore at your leisure! Private taxi fare is 12,450 yen for one hour, or larger “jumbo” taxis starting at 17,100 yen for an hour. From next spring you will also be able to rent travel vans directly from the Snow Country Tourism Activity Center itself!
Q: Are appointments necessary?
A: For most things, you can feel free to visit us any time during operating hours!
However, if you have a specific plan in mind, especially for multiple-day-trips (like our Oze Excursion), we highly recommend messaging the tour center in advance, which you can do by scrolling to the bottom of this page or going to the contact form HERE.
Q: I have a lot of luggage! Can you watch my bags for the day?
A: The Snow Country Tourism Activity Center has a luggage service we encourage travelers to make use of.
The Center charges 500 yen per bag, and 1,000 yen for snowboards and skis. Be sure to come pick up your things before the Center closes for the day!
Q: May I access the Wi-Fi at the Activity center?
A: Yes!
Feel free to make use of our Wi-Fi and plan your next move in our lounge (330 yen per half hour) or rent out a private room with a computer (550 yen per half hour) if you need to get some work done. Our new lounge also has amenities including delicious luxury coffee!
Q: Are there bicycles for rent?
A: There are hourly rates for brand new ebikes depending on the style you prefer.
This includes standard ebikes priced 1,100 yen for two hours to rugged mountain bikes for 2,200 yen. All are regularly maintained and serviced, and you can use them for some of our tours!
Q: What are we promoting these days?
A: This winter, the Snow Country Tourism Activity Center is running their shuttle to famous Kiyotsu Gorge regularly until March 1st, and are planning on running a limited schedule during the springtime as well.
